TASK COFFEE
世田谷区千歳船橋に誕生した TASK COFFEE の立ち上げに携わった。お店づくりの土台となったフォントは、店主がバリスタとして日々実践している「割り切る、繰り返す」という二つの姿勢に倣ってつくることにした。最初に適当なルールを設定し、アルファベットを一通りつくってみるというやり方だ。たとえいびつな形ができても、一文字ずつ整えるのではなく、できるだけ全体を俯瞰しながら、ルール自体の最適化を繰り返していった。少し回りくどい工程ではあるが、それがかえって店主の人柄にも合っているように感じた。その結果、どこかゲームを思わせるようなデザインが生まれ、パッケージのアートワークや、 SAVE POINT という TASK COFFEE の指針を思いつくきっかけにもなった。

I worked on the launch of TASK COFFEE, a new café in Chitose-Funabashi, Setagaya. The base font design was inspired by the owner's values as a barista: staying unemotional and embracing repetition. I first set rough rules and created the full alphabet, focusing not on perfecting each letter, but on refining the system as a whole. This indirect approach felt true to the owner's mindset. The result was a game-like design that led to the packaging artwork and the café's key concept, “SAVE POINT.”
